My girl and I are getting close to our due date and we both had some ideas for this maternity portrait, so we created this set of life-styled photos for our little boy. Time flies, and soon enough, he will be able to look back and say “See, this is Me and my Mommy”.

Yosette and Glen asked me to capture this very rare portrait for them. It’s rare because sometimes, you just don’t know when your family will see each-other again and this was that moment. When I first spoke to Yosette about this portrait, she specifically requested a barn with tall grasses, and I know they like vintage so here we go. This location has great textures and is really fun, but there are obstacles, so backgrounds have to be carefully selected. The first photo you see here was the last from our session, the sun was just setting behind the mountains for a very nice defused light. After the initial posing I stepped back and told everyone to ignore me and do whatever they want to do.

I have not made any recent posts lately, it’s because I have been incredibly busy since November. You may have noticed the new re-designed site that suits the brand a little better, it still needs a bit of work but that’s same as life. This brand means a lot to me, and it’s completely about offering top quality service, quality, documenting life, and people.. I’m also looking forward to this summer, because as you can see in the photo we have a little surprise on the way. My girl and I were getting ready to paint little brothers room, and it’s a timeless moments like this that will remind us how life once was.

Although I have a planned maternity photo shoot for Jodi, this is the true photo that tells the story and shows Mom’s true commitment and prep before all the fun. The digital B&W process that I used in this picture I call Agfa 111, and it’s named after my favorite archival fiber based paper which has been discontinued years ago. When combined it with Rodinal developer at a high ratio it produced rich blacks and an unbelievable tonal range which I couldn’t live without. This was the only paper available with a hint of warm under tone, this is why I apply this treatment.

Brookside Gardens Wedding | Aubriee and Ronnie

Last week, we photographed Aubriee and Ronie’s wedding day. What really stood out that day were the guests, the genuine people and the little people that filled their party. I must say, that it was a real pleasure working with you all and I enjoyed laughing together while sneaking in photos. Thank you all who contributed to these moments.

Lastly, I want to say that Brookside Gardens event center turned out to be an amazing studio. What surprised me the most about it was the amount of color that we saw in our backgrounds, even though this time of season is nearly color-less. To say the least; this venue was a real treat for us. Big thanks to the wedding coordinator Linda O’Hare, you were awesome!

This November I’m thankful for having an amazing family and for people who let me photograph them. I’m also thankful for people who appreciate our photography, and for great feedback I just received. Thank you Kristin and Michael.

I could spare you the details of this wedding, but I won’t because they were so amazing, so let’s get to it. To begin, I have to say that the amount of detail that we experienced at Villa Parker was stunning. Love lies in the details, so I’m glad that Mike and Kristin chose us to capture their day. Their wedding day started with a pretty bride and her beautiful wedding dress. The theme was Italian Vacation, each guest table represented a popular destination in Italy that you would travel to.

From tables Venice to Rome, our journey to photograph their wedding was exceptionally fun. Let’s not forget to mention the mother of the Bride, she designed and carefully arranged all the tables; Diane you did a stellar job! I also have to add that I had the best cake I have ever tasted and I personally don’t like cake. This cake was crafted by “the BUNDT shoppe“. My favorite image of the wedding is the black and white photo of Kristin’s hands, because this is what she does when she is happy. At the end of the day I think all the guests enjoyed the amazing sunset, it was so memorable.

This is only the beginning…

Casual Family Portrait | Belmar Park

Here is a few of my favorite photos from a recent session with Kim, Kelly and Graham. They are a wonderful family with an amazing approach to family life, so photographing them is quite easy, but I always feel like there isn’t enough time to capture it all. And this is fine, because our lives are filled with a lot of passion, dreams and whatever else that makes us all individuals. This is why I can only capture a glimpse of what goes on in their life.

This particular photo session the “Casual Family Portrait” is also known in the commercial world as Lifestyle Photography, which aims to portray real-life situations in a controlled setting. I would rather call it the Casual Portrait, because it’s designed to capture the family portrait and at the same time document their lifestyle.

Whenever I go to a photo shoot like this I have a very good idea on what I want to capture, but it’s not always completely clear what the location or the lighting will be. Shooting at a new location is a lot of fun because I like that element of surprise.

Jocelyn and Andres | Lionsgate Event Center in Lafayette Colorado

Scott and I, photographed Jocelyn and Andres wedding last weekend in Lafayette Colorado at Lionsgate Event Center (Gate House). This venue is a breathtaking country style dairy farm, that was originally built in 1910. You can think of this wedding venue as a vintage canvas for your photos, and if you like vintage; look no further. In photography a beautiful location is very important because that is what set’s the stage for your entire day. Jocelyn and Andres had a beautiful wedding filled with amazing people who had a great time. Here is a few of my favorite photos from their wedding day.

Aubrie + Ronnie | Engagement in Berthoud {part two}

Here is a part 2 from the recent engagement session in Berthoud Colorado. Aubrie and Ronnie are totally in love and I hear that they had a great time during this session. Awesome! Before this session I didn’t have a chance to visit Berthoud, so I was a little skeptical about what I was going to find. I asked some friends and I found out about a park in town, so I decided to start there in the park just off of Mountain Ave and 6th. This was a very nice place to start at the time because the sun was still high in the sky, and we needed to wait for the golden hour. Next we went over a couple streets towards the main street and that is where we took advantage of the old town for that vintage look. Who would have thought this little town had so much to offer. Enjoy.
